The almost universal assertion by the SDA church leadership, the popular media, and the academic world that Branch Davidians under the leadership of David Koresh were (are) the modern successors of the Shepherd’s Rod message originally published by Victor T. Houteff from 1930 to 1955 is completely without foundation. The research article linked below thoroughly discredits such claims with sound historical facts and proper documentation. A brief historical summary of the two movements, the Davidian Seventh-day Adventists and the Branch Davidians, is provided so that the honest seeker for truth can come to their own conclusion without having to be mislead by rumor, reports, and poor scholarship. Dear Brother Evans:
Thank you for your question. No, Salem is not the true headquarters of the Davidian SDA’s at this time. Salem’s role as a true storehouse of God lasted from 1970 to 1974 after which this Association was overtaken and controlled by a Bible worker named Don Adair who still rules the place to this day. We highly recommend that you take the time to prayerfully and carefully view the following six part video presentation that details how God has preserved his Truth from Genesis to Revelation all the way up to the present day. You can judge the evidences for yourself.
