“And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” — Revelation 22:19
There has been much hoopla from the church leadership even since the current president Elder Ted Wilson took office in 2010 calling for revival and reformation within the church. We can certainly agree that one of our greatest needs as a people is for a true revival and reformation to take place in our midst if God will ever have a people prepared to stand before the judgement bar without spot or blemish. Over two years have passed since this urgent call went forth and what has been the fruit of the efforts of the church leaders along these lines? As many sincere Seventh-day Adventists are beginning to notice something has gone astray as all our grand efforts seem powerless to stem the flood of apostasy, sin, and woe in the church and the world remains unchanged and rapidly spiraling into perdition as a result.
Coincident with this great effort was to be the publishing and distribution of the Ellen White’s classic expose The Great Controversy by the millions for distribution around the world. Much to the surprise to those of us who love this wonderful book, the church leadership has taken upon themselves to drastically revise her original work and offer instead an 11 chapter abridged version entitled The Great Hope. Upon closer inspection one finds that over twenty (20) chapters have been all but deleted from this latest edition which essentially leaves out the history of the reformation and the identification and role of the papacy in last day events. At least one independent Adventist ministry has been willing to speak up and point this out this gutting of the Great Controversy. It seems clear that somebody at the top behind the scenes wants to protect the Roman power from its role in past events and on into the future. Perhaps we should take comfort that inspiration has carefully and accurately foretold of just such efforts that would be brought into the church and result in a change in our beliefs and principles.
“The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure.” - Selected Message, Vol. 1, p. 204
“The Lord has declared that the history of the past shall be rehearsed as we enter upon the closing work. Every truth that He has given for these last days is to be proclaimed to the world. Every pillar that He has established is to be strengthened. We cannot now step off the foundation that God has established. We cannot now enter into any new organization; for this would mean apostasy from the truth.—Manuscript 129, 1905.” - Selected Message, Vol. 2, p. 390
Even the enemies of the Seventh-day Adventist church have picked up on this deceptive practice of the church to hide the name of Ellen White’s publications. What a reproach to the God ordained movement we love! Are we ashamed of the gospel and the prophetess that God has sent into our midst? Who will stand up for the Truth thou the heavens fall in this time of almost universal apostasy?
The question arises, since the evidence is mounting that the revival and reformation called for by the Conference leaders is man inspired and devoid of the Spirit of God then when and how will the authentic one come into our midst? One that is empowered by the Holy Spirit. One that is found in the Bible and tailored to meet the needs of the church at the present time. The answer is the God ordained call for the revival and reformation crowned with the purification found in the third and fourth chapters of Malachi’s prophecy (for a video presentation click here). Come and see the Lord’s plan for success that cannot fail.
